Widespread across Australia and parts of Southeast Asia, this small falcon thrives in open woodlands, grasslands, farmland, and even urban edges. Known for its hovering flight while hunting, the Nankeen Kestrel feeds on insects, small mammals, and reptiles, using agility and keen eyesight rather than raw speed. Adaptable and confident, it is one of the most familiar and successful raptors in its range.
