A Prairie Falcon (Falco mexicanus) makes a sharp banking turn in midair, eyes fixed on prey as its long, pointed wings slice through the air. Native to western North America, this fast and powerful falcon favors open deserts, grasslands, and rugged cliffs, where it nests on ledges and hunts over wide expanses. Like most falcons Its diet consists mainly of birds, often taken in high-speed chases or surprise stoops. Their diet is supplemented with small mammals such as ground squirrels, . Slightly larger and broader-winged than a Peregrine Falcon, the Prairie Falcon is known for its endurance and adaptability, qualities clearly on display in this moment of focused, athletic flight.
