A pair of peregrine falcons perch on a rugged rocky outcrop against a clear blue sky. These falcons are known for their incredible speed and hunting prowess. This image shows the clear difference in size between the sexes, with the male in front being distinctly smaller than the female behind him. In fact, male peregrines are called "tercels" from the French word for one third, because males are about 1/3 small than females.
