I was surprised to find an apple orchard in Costa Rica. However, this orchard was high up in the Talamanca Mountains where temperatures were low enough the apple trees to thrive. The farmer was aware that the local Sulfur-winged Parakeets fed on his ripening crop. To minimize the damage done, he covered his trees with netting, but left a small group of trees uncovered. The birds had avidly attacked the exposed apples, but left the apples under the netting alone. I was able to get multiple shots of these birds feeding on the apples, which are, of course, not native to Costa Rica.
