The vibrant Orange-fronted Parakeet is captured as it feeds on a dark purple fruit among lush green foliage. This striking bird is a popular pet, where it is known as the Half-moon Conure. Unfortunately, poaching of nest for the pet trade has resulted in a decline in the wild population: the species is currently listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. This image highlights the parakeet's namesake bright orange forehead and vivid green body. I am always excited to see common pet parrots out in the wild in their native habitat.
