A Cliff Parakeet is captured mid-nibble as it feeds on bright yellow flowers. This species was recently split off from the Monk Parakeet. The two species are quite similar in appearance, and, like the Monk Parakeet, the Cliff Parakeet builds large, communal nests from sticks. Each pair has a separate entrance into its own nest hollow in the sometimes quite large nest. As their name suggests, these parakeets build their nests in crevices and on ledges of steep cliffs. The soft, blurred background emphasizes the bird and flowers.
