Two rosy-faced lovebirds cuddle closely in a nest hollow of a Saguaro Cactus. Obviously this image was not taken in the lovebirds native range in Africa. A feral population around Phoenix, AZ used hollows in this cactus as nest sites. These nestlings are most likely watching for one of their parents to come in with food. Juveniles of this species are easily told from adults, as they have a mostly black beaks, tipped with orange. Adults have horn colored beaks. Rosy-faced Lovebirds are commonly kept as pets as they are small, beautiful, and breed easily in captivity. They are often called "Peach-faced Lovebirds".
