A Lear's Macaw flies past the red rock cliffs found in its home. Because they live in an arid environment with no large trees, these macaws both roost in, and nest in, caves in these cliffs. The semicircle of bare, yellow skin behind the lower beak and the eye ring of orange skin are identifying characteristics of this species. The bird's wings are fully extended, highlighting its impressive wingspan and stunning blue of the wings.
